I own a HDB resale flat with my brother that was purchased in 2011. I am looking to purchase another resale flat with my fiancee. Can I transfer my share of the flat I currently own to my brother and buy another resale flat even though the MOP has not been reached?

Can I buy a resale flat with my fiancee while I own the resale flat with my brother? Is there a time limit to sell the flat?

Evening,

As both of you are SC and above age of 35, your brother should be able to purchase over your share and own the unit under single scheme. But you will need to write to HDB to appeal your case for special approval as you have not fulfill the MOP requirement.
Every SC or SPR are only eligible to own only one HDB unit at any one time. Should you choose to buy first, you will have to remove your ownership on your current unit within 6 month from key collection of your upcoming purchase.

Good morning,

If your brother is 35 years old and Singaporean, he will be eligible to take over your share of ownership under Single Singapore Citizen Scheme.

Even though he is eligible, you have to appeal to your HDB branch office to sell/ transfer ownership because you have not fulfilled the MOP.

If not, you might have to wait till next year to do so (fulfill MOP). By then you can purchase a resale HDB with your fiancee but you will have to dispose off your current unit within 6 months from HDB purchase completion as one only can hold on to 1 HDB at any time.

    Thank you all for the kind response. When we get married, assuming my brother and I hold the hdb unit, am I required to add my fiancée/wife as an occupier? Does this limit her eligibility to purchase private property in any way or limit the ltv for this purchase?

    if my brother transfers how ownership in the flat to my wife/fiancee does the mop reset?
