I need advise regarding the Tenancy Agreement. I'm the owner and have rented my house from mid May2011, supposingly till mid May2013. But now tenant wants to move out in mid Jan2013. Reason given was because tenant is buying a house therefore would want to terminate the tenancy agreement earlier. I don't want to be at the losing end. Can i ask for compensation for the remaning months or anything like that? Because it will be a lost of rental income for me. What can i do?

Hi Nurulnorah,

Like what my fellow professionals are advising, go through the tenancy agreement to check if there is any diplomatic clause involved and that is there any clause that allows the tenant to terminate the tenancy agreement prematurely without compensating. If these clauses are missing, I believe you have every right to seek compensation for violating the tenancy agreement. It will be good if you can still contact the salesperson who brokered this deal for assistance.
