Afternoon Ivan,

Under the current ruling, if you were to buy the adjoining unit, you will have to do the following:

1) Talk to your neighbour and let them know of your interest, so that they don't sell the unit to someone else.
2) Apply through HDB on your intention to purchase the adjoining unit.
3) Upon approval of the application, you will be required to check with the bank or HDB on your current and upcaoming loan issue before sell off your current private Property.
4) Perform major renovation to the "Jumbo" unit that you have just purchase, combining the electric, gas and water mater, piping, wiring and creating a opening between two units.

Do feel free to contact me if you require any further assistance.

Hi Ivan,

You can check with HDB whether you are eligible to purchase your neighbour's flat.

If yes, and you buy it, you will have to sell your private property within 6 months as required by the new MAS rules.

This is considered a new sale based on current purchase date.

I hope that you get a clearer picture after this.

Hi Ivan

Thanks your question.

If you have set-up a family than you are eligible to apply for the conversion but subject to hdb's approval though.

Nonetheless you need to check still with hdb branch office for detailed info on how to go about it.

Feel free to contact me should i can be of further assistance. =)
