I intend to get a HDB flat under my name, before getting married. My fiance intends to get a condo under his name after getting married. So that we can own 2 properties. What will happen to my flat after i got married? Do i need to add my husband's name into my flat? If i get married before getting the flat, does it mean both of us will own the flat by default?

Hi Jean,

If you are 35 years and above single singaporean citizen, you can purchase the resale HDB now under your own name, under the single singaporean citizen scheme not an issue. And it may be better to do so. You need not add your future spouse name into the hdb.

Look forward to discuss further at 97432395  . Thanks from Ivan Read More

Hi,

1) Sequence of events do make a difference.
2) Assumptions made are as follow:
(a) Both SC
(b) Both >= 35 yrs old
3) Married -> buy HDB -> Public Scheme -> Owner + essential occupier = cannot own any private property during MOP.
4) Single -> buy HDB -> Single Scheme -> Owner -> Married -> spouse = occupier = can own private property.

Hope the above answer to your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.

Best regards

Hi Miss,

It depends on the Scheme you're purchasing the HDB flat under. If you're under age 35, you can only purchase under Fiance/Fiancee Scheme, which means your fiance will have to be either the co-owner or the essential occupier for the flat.

By being a co-owner or the essential occupier, he will also have to serve the 5-year MOP before being able to purchase another property.

If you're Single above 35, you do have the option to purchase under the Single Scheme. Under this Scheme, you are not required to include your future spouse into the flat as co-owner or occupier.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

Should you need require further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Robbie Chen
