I have turned 35 and currently live in a Condo with my parents. I am intending to buy a HDB under Singles scheme. My parents have intention to sell the house.
Can I only list 1 of my parent as essential occupier and get the "Staying with parents" grant?

If i list both parents, in the event of the demise of my old aged grandma, my parents cannot inherit her HDB, as they have to fulfil MOP, am i right?

If yes, then you would need to dispose off the private property first and observe a wait out period of 15 months before you be deemed eligible to purchase a HDB flat.

Hi,

If you do not have any ownership in the condo, I was thinking you should purchase the resale HDB on your own name, so that the condo can be rented out for retirement income for your parents, and your parents can move in with you?

Yes if they are occupiers of your flat, they cannot inherit the HDB since its still under the MOP period. It may be ideal not to include your parents name at all for your property purchase.

    I see thanks for sharing. To get the PHG, both parents have to be listed as normal occupiers as they must be officially staying with you. Enhanced PHG will be $15k if you have not taken this before. Yes the condo has to be sold within 6 months after the hdb resale completion. May I know where is the condo? I may have interested buyers. If you have turned 35 years old, you will qualify to purchase a resale HDB under Singles Scheme if you have necessary finances to support the purchase. You need not name your parents as essential occupiers for the property but just as plain occupiers where their addresses will be updated, but they must not have owned any private residential properties at this point of purchase if we look into the eligibility criteria for PHG (https://www.hdb.gov.sg/residential/buying-a-flat/flat-and-grant-eligibility/couples-and-families/proximity-housing-grant-families).

With regards to your grandparent place, is there any intention to retain the flat in this instance? They are able to inherit the HDB but they will not be eligible to keep that HDB in this scenario therefore they will be required to sell off that inherited HDB.
