The Letter of Offer (LO) is NOT void just because you change lawyers. The loan approval remains valid.
The lawyer named in the LO is not final. You are allowed to change lawyers before completion.
Do NOT exercise the Option to Purchase (OTP) with a different lawyer without informing the bank first. This can cause delays or rejection of the loan documentation.
Correct process:
Inform the bank immediately that you want to change lawyer
Bank will issue a revised LO or amendment naming the new lawyer
Then proceed to exercise OTP with the new lawyer
If you already exercised OTP with a different lawyer, tell the bank right away so they can regularise it (usually still fixable, but causes delay).
Best practice:
Always amend the lawyer with the bank before exercising OTP to avoid complications.
