I have bought my first hdb flat about thirty years ago and sold and moved to private property. NOw i wish to dispose of private property can i apply for a new hdb flat second time. What are conditions?

Hi Patrick,

You need to wait out 30 months after selling the private condo before you can apply BTO. There is no such wait out period if you go for resale hdb instead.

Hi Patrick,

Yes, you can apply for a new BTO flat, provided you meet all the eligibility conditions set by HDB.

Also, do take note that you will need to wait out a 30-month period after the sale of your private condo, before being eligible to apply for the new BTO.

You can however go for a HDB resale flat without the wait-out condition.

Good morning,

If your first HDB unit was purchased directly from HDB or with full or haf grant, you might wanna consider getting resale HDB this time. Based on the older HDB ruling, resale levy is calculated based on your sales price. If i do not remember wrongly, there is also interest payable based on the unpaid resale levy. You will also be required to wait for 30 months after the sales of your unit before you can apply for the BTO unit.

Good day Patrick Chan

Not advisable for you to queue for new BTO hdb for various reason .

1. $$ Levy payable for 2nd timer .

2. Wait 30months AFTER selling your private property before you can ballot for new BTO . In a extremely lucky scenerio , successful BTO ballot within 1st attempt , You still need to add a couple of years for new BTO to build while you wait without a home .

3. Family nucleus required .

Alternatively you may want to consider buying a resale hdb which you will not be subjected to the above 3 conditions .

You can buy a resale hdb BEFORE selling your condo if your cash flow permits , you need to sell your condo latest within 6months AFTER collecting key to your resale Hdb.

Hi Patrick,

You may only be able to apply for a new HDB flat 30 months after selling off your private property. DO you have an interim place to stay during this period?

If you do not have and have to rent, then it will be recommended that you look at resale HDBs instead. Rational is that you will be able to save on rental since you can time the transition as that after selling your private property, you can purchase immediately and move in.

You will be able to select the location you want and do not need to wait for the 2-3 years building period. You will also not have to pay a resale levy if you have applied for a housing grant when you purchase your first HDB.
