I have been searching for resale HDB flats by myself. During some viewings, 2 agents started to tell me that if I am interested, they can show me other flats within the neighbourhood. I noted that these units are marketed by other agents. I would like to check for such cases, am I liable to pay these agent a commission since I did not officially appoint them? Would they co-broke with the marketing agents in such cases?

Hi Sharyn, you could always check with these agents first whether are they representing the seller, or they are just swinging you to other units and thus collecting comm from you if you do purchase it.

It will be good to sort out the commission agreement right from the onset to avoid misunderstanding down the road. If you are unwilling to pay a commission, do inform the salesperson right from the start.
