I have been married to an Expat for 2 years. His company is relocating next year to another country. Our current and future rental have been/will be paid by the company. We are looking into purchasing a resale HDB flat before relocating (Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme). We intend to return to Singapore after 2-3 years after the relocation. Please advise if the purchase of HDB resale is viable for us.

If so, must the flat be occupied?

Also, what is the min duration before you can sell the flat for thisscheme?

Thank you.

Evening Mary,

I would assume that you are SC and your husband is under EP. To purchase resale flat under Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme, your husband must have at least 6 months of EP validity, at the point of application submission. If your husband's company is relocating, I would assume that his EP will not be extended. With such case, I would have to say that the purchase is not possible. Under current scheme, HDB flat can only be sold after it's Minimum Occupation Period of 5 years.

Do feel free to contact me if you require further assistance.
