I have a question around the extar stamp suty payable for foreigners. My wife is a US citizen and I am a UK citizen.
Would we avoid the extra stamp duty because she is a US citizen. Could we place the property solely into her name to avoid the extra stamp duty?

If your wife is a US national, than Additional Buyer Stamp Duty (ABSD) is not applicable.

Hi Under FTA, US citizens will be subjected to same stamp duties as SG citizens. If this is solely under her name and her first residential property here, she will not be subjected to ABSD. Feel free to contact me at 97970200  to discuss and assist on your plans for purchase.

Hi, yes it is possible if your wife is purchasing a unit under her sole name and there be no ABSD being a US citizen.

Yes for US citizens sole name purchase, ABSD is not applicable on their first residential purchase due to our Free Trade Agreement arrangements where citizen treatment applies for property purchase for certain nationalities such as US citizen.

If the property is purchased under your wife's sole name, then ABSD will not be applicable as USA is one of the countries under the Free Trade Agreement with Singapore.

In the event of sole ownership, take note that only her sole income will be used for loan assessment. You will not be able to include your income for the property loan.
