I have a problem , I want to sell my hdb and move nearer to my work place when I call hdb , they said is not possible do I have to talk to my mp ?

but now I want to sell current hdb to downgrade , any agent pls shed light ..

Hi Adrian,

You mentioned that HDB said it is not possible. May I ask how long have you been staying in your current place? Generally HDB does not stop us from selling our HDB flat to buy a smaller unit unless there are special reasons such as your 5 years Minimum Occupation Period is not up yet.

I have assisted many clients in similar situations as yours and I will really need to know a tad more details before I can advise you on what to do. Hi Adrian, I believe you have not stayed for at least 5 years in this current flat right ? As HDB does not have the right to stop you from selling.

Dear Adrian,

If you have not met your 5 years minimum occupation period, HDB will not allow you to sell the unit unless you appeal for premature sale. You will be required to write in for appeal together with all the supporting documents to justify your intention to sell and having the MP assist you write a letter is usually the last resort.

Hi Adrian,

As long as you have fulfilled the 5-year MOP for your HDB flat, you will be able to sell it off in the resale market.

Should you wish to sell it off before meeting the MOP, you will probably need to have a strong reason to appeal to HDB. Decision will be on a case-by-case basis.
