Hi Sir,

You can only purchase under Single Scheme if you're a Singapore Citizen, single and above age 35. Once you get married, it's either under Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme (if she's foreigner), or Public Scheme (if she's SPR).

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

Should you need require further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile +65 97 48 63 05. I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Hi,

1) I suggest you settle the domestic matters with your girlfriend before making the next move.
2) It is very clear on the HDB website that both owners and occupiers are not to own any private property locally and overseas.
3) So if you intend to buy a 2-room BTO in the near future, and get married. Then you might be stuck.
4) Your spouse will be the occupier of the BTO after marriage. Since she owns an overseas property, the HDB will want her to sell it away.
5) Should you now buy a resale HDB flat, you will encounter a similar situation as buying the BTO.
6) If she intends to work and live here for the long term. It is better not to buy the Malaysia property now.
7) She can still buy it after the MOP of your BTO or resale flat.
8) You may apply for a bigger BTO with her as an occupier under the fiance/fiancee scheme. So you will still be the sole owner of the flat if that was the initial plan.
9) Honestly, the property appreciation in Malaysia is almost negligible as far as I'm aware. So buying later will not be much higher than buying now.

Please give me a thumbs-up if the answer provided is relevant to your main concern. Thanks!!!

Owning overseas property (like your girlfriend's Malaysia property) can cause issues when buying an HDB flat in Singapore. You'll either need to sell it or wait until after fulfilling the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) of your flat. Consider discussing this with your girlfriend and exploring options like the fiance/fiancee scheme for a larger BTO flat where you remain the sole owner. There's also the possibility of her buying the Malaysian property later on. Read More
