I have a 4room HDB flat fully furnished in punggol drive. I and my wife purchased it in 2012 oct from sales of balance scheme. I am not living there and it is empty. What should I do to rent it out? should I seek approval from HDB? thanks.

Afternoon Thunesan, Since you have only purchased the unit in 2012, you still fall short of the MOP requirement. Hence you will need to write into HDB and appeal for approval for rental. Hi Mr Thunesan, As what Mike has indicated, regulatory wise you are disallowed from subletting your unit out since MOP has not been fulfilled. Should you be exploring to sublet the unit, you will need to write in to HDB for approval. Hi Mr Krishnam, According to the rules of HDB, you will have to fulfil your Minimum Occupation Period before you can rent out your whole flat which definitely applies to you right now. You will need to write in to apply to HDB to allow you to rent out your flat but of course HDB will be expecting a very valid reason why you need to do so. Do take note that even if HDB gives permission for you to rent it out, your MOP period will be suspended during your period of renting out. So let's say you have 2 more years to go before fulfilling MOP and you manage to rent it out for 2 years with approval, your MOP will stop and commence again after the rental has ended.
