I have a 4-room HDB bought under singles scheme. My future wife also have a HDB using hers and her mother's name. In the future when we are married, can I still buy private property or bigger HDB using only my name?

Hi Sir,

Yes, you could still purchase a private property using your name.

However, should you purchase a resale HDB flat after you get married, you will have to purchase it with your Wife. So, if you have the intentions of buying a bigger flat, you should do so before you get married.

Hi,

Yes you can get private property under your own name no issue. However once married, both your name and your spouse name has to be included in the next flat as hdb recognizes you all as a legal entity family nucleus.

Dear Sir,

Once you are married, you can use your own name to purchase a private property as a 2nd property but you will not be able to purchase another HDB flat under your sole name because under the current HDB regulation, both you and your wife's names will need to be included either as owners or occupiers when you purchase a flat.
