I currently owned a HDB flat bought from the resale market in 2008 without any grant or under any HDB scheme. Can I buy an EC while still retaining my HDB flat and my private property overseas (acquired well before 2006)? I have intention to rent the HDB flat out and move into the EC. If the HDB currently owned is SERs, would be able to opt for the new site?

Afternoon,

If you are looking at resale EC, and you are SC, you are eligible to keep your HDB unit, apply for approval to rent it out and stay in the EC.

However, if you are PR, you are required to sell off your HDB unit upon getting the keys for your resale EC.

In the case of enbloc, you can appeal for selection on the new replacement site as you will be the owner of private EC but you might be required to sell off your EC upon getting the keys for your enbloc unit.
