I currently own a 3room hdb flat which is located 2nd to the last unit. I am thinking of buying my neighbors flat which is adjacent to my unit which is also a 3 room flat. Can I do so? And will I have to pay for the corridors too? Can I knock off the wall of my flat in the corridor so that I can increase the living area size? In addition can I knock off the wall which separates the living room of the two units if I am able to purchase it? Is there any special approval required from HDB? Similarly, Can I sell the said 3+3 unit separately or I must sell it as one unit? Appreciate gurus response here.

Morning John,

To purchase the adjacent unit, you would need to check with HDB for the approval, along with the walls which you would like to knock down.
You would need the floor plans, and the structural plans, to know whether your idea is possible.
Once you applied for approval for adjoined / jumbo unit, you will have to choose between two unit number, as you can only keep one. Hence on sales, you have to sell the whole unit as one entity.
