I applied for a BTO flat in 2012 and in between waiting time from application to key collection this year, i bought a small share of private property investment overseas just collecting yearly dividends. Im not the absolute owner. Now i am considered ineligible to buy the flat anymore and was asked to appeal to them to waive off this rule. Are there any incidence like me and what is my chance on this to be able to buy a flat from hdb.? -worried singapore citizen

Dear sir/madam,

I am quite sure that HDB has already advised on the eligibility of purchasing a BTO unit, therefore I am unsure why you have got yourself into this situation.

All appeals to the HDB to waive off these requirements are reviewed on a case to case basis, therefore even if there is a precedent case which was successful, it does not mean that your appeal can be successful too. You will probably need to act fast in the appeal process and if necessary, visit your MP to see if he or she is able to help you appeal.

Afternoon,

On your application of the BTO unit, you would have being notified and you would have also acknowledge that neither applicant of the BTO unit should have any interest on private property located within and outside of SG. Even with 1% ownership, you would have considered as bleach of contractual agreement. I'm afraid that you will have to surrender the application as I have yet to experience successful appeal on similar ground.
