I and my mom are co-owners of a 4rm BTO house. After selling this house, I am buying a resale house with my wife as co owner. I understand 50% of the cash proceeds will go to the new house. How will hdb allocate the 50% of the proceeds into my new resale house? Will it be purely 50% of total cash proceeds or after division with my mom assuming 50/50 then 50% of my share or any percent I choose to?

Hi, thanks for your inquiry, for the 50% sale proceeds, it will be applicable if you are taking your second HDB loan, if its a bank loan then no issues. Do check on ur HFE as it will be stated. Usually 50% cash proceeds for next house can be spilt between 2 co-owners for their next purchase.

I would suggest to write in to HDB and advise on that as there are some cases whereby you may appeal according depends on your financial situation.

Hi Abdul,

If you go for 2nd hdb loan, the 50% rule will apply. They will set aside the 50% of the sale cash proceeds for this, and thereafter I believe this amount is divided by half, with which you need to port over to the new house to reduce the hdb loan. To confirm the exact amount, when you apply HFE letter, they will indicate the exact portion and amount.
