i am turning 55 next year, i understand that if i sell my condo to buy a hdb before 55 i would have to wait for 15 months, but if i cross 55 and my wife is still under 55, will i be exempted from this rule? how do they calculate or determine

The default regulation is that both of you have to be 55 years or above to be exempted from this rule, thus what you will need to do is to submit an appeal to HDB. Read More

Good morning Sir,

The regulation is such that both of you have to be at least 55 years old to be able to purchase resale HDB immediately after selling your private property without the wait out period of 15 months. Another way is to appeal now, which with special circumstances such as health reasons, HDB may be able to waive this requirement but it is subject to their review case by case.

Both of you will need to be above 55 years old to be exempted from this rule. However if you have a genuine reason to transit from a condo to a HDB, we can appeal to HDB to get a waiver.
