I am thinking of buying my first HDB apartment, but am likely to go on an overseas posting in the net 12 months for about 3 years. I can buy with 70% cash, but where do I stand with MoP and renting while I am away? Thanks.

Afternoon Angela,

As at this moment, wth good income and credit record, you are eligible to purchase resale HDB unit under single scheme (35 y/o and above) or Public scheme (married couples, SC and PR). After the purchase, you are required to fulfill he MOP of 5 years. With special condition like yours, you can apply for special permission to rent out your whole unit while you are away. However, during your absence, the preiod used for rental will not be included into your MOP.
