I am the administrator of my late father's HDB flat and I actually intend to buy another HDB with my future-to-be spouse. Is that possible for me to buy another HDB? If yes, what will be the procedures?

Good morning Sir/ Mdm,

I am sorry to hear about your deceased father.

Do take note that you are only eligible to hold on to one HDB at any point of time. You are eligible to buy with your fiance if both of you are eligible under HDB eligibility schemes.

By the way, how is the situation on your father's unit? Is it vacant or occupied by anyone?

    what are the instructions given to you as adminstrator?

    What did the court state?

    If your sibling is turning 21 years old soon, he can take over the HDB with your mom under non citizen family scheme if he is singapore. Have to clarify with court first then HDB branch office.

    Thanks for the reply. It's more complicated in my situation. My mom (long term pass holder) and myself are both appointed as administrator for my late father's HDB flat. Yes I occupied by me and mom and 3 other siblings. Is is possible for me to swap with my second sibling as an administrator as he is turning 21 this year? My spouse to be is a foreigner. Thanks!

I do have another sibling who is turning 21 this year. Will it be possible for my sibling to take over my place as an administrator if I want to purchase another HDB?

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate news, I hope you are managing well.

Do note you can only keep 1 hdb at any one point of time, hence you will be required to sell off the current HDB after getting the next resale HDB with your future-to-be spouse.

Hi,

1) As an administrator means that you have the authority to handle the HDB flat in terms of legal administration of distributing it or selling it.
2) As per your situation, if this flat was solely owned by your father. Then under the succession act, it should be fairly distributed to all immediate family members whether they are of legal age.
3) You will have to give up your share in this HDB flat before you are able to buy another HDB with your future spouse.

Yes, you can purchase another HDB flat with your fiancé/fiancée. You're only the administrator of the flat, not the owner. You will be in charge of disposing the flat and distribute the sale proceeds.

The procedure for your HDB flat purchase would be the same, unchanged, as you will register intent to buy as a Buyer.
