Hi Patrick,

If the MOP of 5 years are met, you can use her name to purchase private property. Do note the ABSD of 5% applies.

As per above link, it will be good to will your share of the hdb ownership to her name since she is just occupier status. Whether she is eligible to keep the hdb is still subject to hdb approval so I recommend you to get a written confirmation from HDB branch for this scenario mentioned.

Hi Patrick,

As an occupier of the HDB, she will need to meet the 5 years MOP. Once this is met, she is free to purchase a condo. As to whether she is able to inherit the HDB, as long as she can satisfy the criteria to own a HDB flat, it is possible.

1) If your wife did not own private property she will be able to retain the flat once you passed on.
2) But if your wife owned a private property, according to the current HDB policy she will not able to retain the HDB flat.

Good evening Patrick,

she has to fulfil 5 years MOP with you before she is eligible to purchase a private solely under her name.

As she is only an occupier and not an owner, she might not be eligible to own a HDB as a single SPR even there's a will done up. There is no single SPR scheme.

It will be good to clarify with HDB on this directly.
