I am SC and owning a HDB with my LTVP parents as occuiper, still left 4 years MOP. If now I am going to marry with a PR who owns a condo, do I have to give up the HDB or he needs to give up the condo after marriage?

Hi,
Yes, if you get married within MOP period, your fiancee got to dispose of his condo. He can buy another condo after your MOP under his own name after that.

It is quite likely that your partner may have to give up his condo in this case since you are still within your MOP.

I have been in the real estate business since 2009, with more than 13 years of experience serving the Singapore real estate market.

I am very active in the residential segment of Singapore real estate market, having transacted hundreds of deals from HDBs to private condominiums and landed properties in Singapore, and have handled many unique cases in sales and purchases as well as rental deals.

Over the years, I have also established a network reaching out to more than 9,400 expatriates, bringing my market presence to both in and outside of Singapore. This has created an additional exposure when I manage my client's portfolios, on top of the conventional on and offline platforms, where other estate agents are relying on. This has allowed me to consistently convert leads into results.

With an evolving market, where change is the only constant, I have also been investing in upgrading of my knowledge and skills sets to improve myself and meet the demands of current and future market.

Hi,

1) Your future spouse will have to let go of his private property once you get married.
2) If he wants to keep his condo, you will have to wait for 4 years (upon completion of MOP) to get married.
3) Of course, the last option would be to appeal to the HDB if you can find a strong and valid reason that he cannot dispose of his condo.
4) The main reason for owners and occupiers cannot own a private property when they are staying in the HDB during the MOP, is to deter those who could afford a private property to fight the HDB flat against those who cannot afford it.

Please give me a thumbs-up if the answer provided is relevant to your main concern. Thanks!!!

Hope the above answers your main concerns, but if there are more queries, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.

Yes, if you get married within the HDB MOP, your husband will have to dispose of his condo. It is because HDB needs you to form a family unit once married, and no private property ownership allowed within the MOP. Once your MOP has been fulfilled, there's no issue with you or your husband owning private property. Read More
