I am planning to buy a resale HDB and rent it out. I know that you are not allowed to rent the whole unit before the MOP is over.

But I was told that if I am working overseas, then HDB allows this. Is this really true? Or is it also case by case basis? Thanks for your help!

Morning,

You have being seeking for answers and I have replying to your promptly. You can check with the HDB branch office for details, which I think would better clear your doubts as they are the officials.
As I have mentioned, to rent out your unit before MOP, due to work committments overseas, is subjected to approval.
If you are keen, my colleague have a 3 1/2 room unit, low floor, corner, at Clementi Blk 428. Valued at $400k and low COV asking. It's away from the expressway and with good ammenities.

Hi there,
If you are a Permanent Resident, you will not be allowed to lease out the whole unit even if you are working overseas. If you are a Singapore citizen base on the same scenario, there will be a higher chance of it being approve. hope this help.

    Thank you both for the replies. Well I have to really think about it whether to buy a resale HDB now because if my application to rent it out is not approved, then I cannot service the bank loan.

    Then maybe I need to consider buying a condo since it is more safe and I can rent it out immediately. I am buying more for investment.
