I am currently staying in a HDB flat which was transacted in May 2010 ie. before the new HDB ruling. Would like to know if I am affected by the MOP of 5 years before being allowed to invest in a condo?

Hi Vin,

If you are either staying in flats bought from HDB (direct-purchase flat) and resale flat under CPF Housing Grant Scheme or resale flat bought in the open market (without CPF Housing Grant Scheme), your unit has to fulfill the minimum occupation period of 5 years from effective date of purchase/ resale. Thus you are not eligible to invest in any residential properties until your unit MOP.

You may choose to invest in commercial properties/ non residental properties for the time being.

I hope I have cleared your doubts. If you require anymore clarifications, feel free to contact me.

Best Regards,
