Asked by
I am currently living with my brother and parents in a HDB flat. This HDB flat was bought by my brother (who is single) as sole owner from open market without any HDB subsidy/grant. I am wondering if i can buy a new HDB flat by forming a family nucleus with my parents only? I am confused with the requirement of forming a family nucleus where it says " parents, and siblings (if any).

Does "siblings" include those which have already married and owning their HDB flats with their respective spouse. I have 2 other brothers who are married and live in their own HDB flats bought from HDB.

I am currently 34 years old and single.

Thank you.

hi James

Thanks your question.

If the current sole owner has minimum 35 years old already then the parents name can be removed and proceed to buy with you, family nucleus.

However the current flat Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) period of 5 years must be met first prior to name removal.

Alternatively you may wait till you are 35 to proceed.
