I am currently facing a unique yet complex situation pertaining to my unit. I really do hope that i am able to seek an agent who is able to understand and decipher the complexity of my situation, and also one who is able to tailor to my requirements. In gist, i am currently staying in a hdb as a joint owner with my mother and another sibling. But it seems that this hinders me alot and indirectly limit my growth and intrudes my personal space. If its possible for me to stay in my own unit, without having to sell my current one. Pls help. Thanks!

Hi Harith,

You can opt to purchase a private and stay alone if you have fulfilled MOP.

If you wish to opt for HDB, you have to check whether is your mom financially capable to return whatever CPF OA funds you use and loan if any. If not whether can your sibling takes over the ownership and be co owner with your mom. This will subject to HDB approval.

    Both mum and brother are not financiallt stabalised and if im out of the wagon, sadlt they have to move - this i would want to happen. I just want to stay in my own space without anythings changed to the current status of my hdb.

Good evening,

As advised if you dont wish to compromise existing HDB, you will have to opt for a private in which you will be subject to the cooling measures.

1) 12% ABSD as SC for second property ownership
2) loan up to max 45% if theres still outstanding loan
3) set aside basic retirement sum of $85.5k in CPF OA + SA before you can use the excess OA for the purchase.

You might want to work out the sum before proceeding further.
