I am buying my mum HDB flat share (I own 50% and she own 50% presently) I will list her under essential occupier. If she passed away within 5 years mop, can I still retain the flat as single scheme? Do I have to pay back the grant? Does she has any legal right to the flat?

Good afternoon Yuqi,

May I know why are you thinking of buying over your mom's share?

Is your current ownership joint tenancy? If yes, it will be meant that you will be the sole owner if your mom passes on in the future.

You will be eligible to be a single owner if you are Singaporean and above 35 years old.

If you still decide to proceed with buying over your mom's share, do approach your HDB branch office directly.

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry. May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

YT Tan

For joint tenancy is sole survivorship? So no need to buy over
