I think it is a wise decision. However, there is one key thing to take note. SPR's pay an additional stamp duty of 5%. Foreigner's pay 30%. This is the ABSD. So, please contact me so that I can advise you further.

Yes both of you are eligible to purchase a private property. But do take note, buying a private with your foreigner friend will be subject to 30% additional buyer's stamp duty (ABSD) compared to you buying alone (5% ABSD).

If you decide to proceed further, have you speak to any banker in regards to your in principle approval (bank loan amount)? Do you have any preferred location and requirements?
