I am a New Singapore Citizen who received my Singapore Citizenship on 07th January 2015.We note that one of the eligibility conditions stated in your website is concerning the Ownership/Interest in property in Singapore or overseas. We would like to know if my situation of past ownership in a family residential property in Malaysia will have effect on my eligibility to purchase a New HDB BTO flat. Kindly allow me to explain in details as following.I disposed the ownership of a family residential property in Malaysia on 12/02/2014. This ownership of our house was shared equally between 5 persons namely, myself, my mom, a brother & 2 sisters. At the time of purchase of the property, I did not contribute any monies. Similarly, when I decided to withdraw my name & dispose my 20% share of ownership I did not receive any monies or any kind of compensation as well. My wife does not have any property ownership to her name. Are we eligible to buy a New HDB BTO flat & considered as First Timer.

Morning,

BTO buyers are not allowed to own any private property or have sold any within the past 30 months. Given your case, you will need to write into HDB and work it out.
