Hi,

If the purchase is under both of your names, the higher tax rate of the two (ie 15% ABSD for Foreigner) will be used. If its under his sole name, 5% ABSD will be the rate. Thanks and may I assist with your purchase further?

If you intend to purchase under both names, you will be subject to the higher ABSD 15%.

But if you decide to purchase it solely under your son's name, the ABSD is 5% which I will advise you to do so.

Evening Emma,

If your son's financial status is sufficient to finance the property on his own, the ABSD payable will be 5%. However, if the mortgage requires your involvement, you will be required to be the owner as well. This will result in ABSD payable to be 15% instead.
