I am a foreigner and my wife is a PR. We are currently ot allowed to buy HDB. I am preparing to buy a condo. But I heard that if we buy condo first, we are not allowed to buy HDB even if I get PR and my wife is a three year old PR. Is it true? If we sell the condo, can we buy HDB?

Hi Mr Sean, both problem to buy HDB after both of you have become PR for at least 3 yrs. But of concern here is that the condo that you are intending to buy, are you aware of the 15% ABSD (unless you are under FTA) if you buy with your wife? If you need more information, do drop me an email to propnex@me.com or call me @ 81613790  . Rgds Philip Chong, Associate Team Director, SAEA Mortgage Planner, Propnex Realty Pte Ltd Read More

Hi Sean, both of you has to be a PR of at least 3 years then you be eligible to purchase a HDB. So in your situation, the best is to obtained PR status first follow by purchase of a condo. And then in 3 years time, when both of you will be eligible to purchase a HDB, you could then buy one unit and sell away the condo within 6 months.
