I am a foreighner(Egyptian).Recently i bought a condo in singapore.I Have a singaporean Girlfriend that intend to Marry.As she is single right now,can she buy a HDB Home? Considering if she can buy a HDB home and later she get marry with me which is foreighner by status,does that effect the HDB she bought when her status is Married.Any suggestion for me.If i want to include my name in the HDB house since i will be paying for her,what is the consequences.Thanks for your help.Please include the agent name if i want to find the HDB home.

Afternoon,

If your girlfriend is above age of 35, she's eligible to purchase resale HDB unit under single scheme. Upon union by marriage after the purchase, she can choose to or not to add you as the occupier. For your case, if you purchase a private property prior marriage, you can opt to or not to add her as the co-owner.

However, do note that once your girlfriend purchased the HDB unit, she' not allowed to own any private property within the 5 years MOP period. And if she does add your name into the HDB unit under Non-Citizen Spouse scheme, you will be required to sell away your private property within 6 months from the date of addition.

Dear Shaikh,

Your girlfriend can buy a HDB flat now if she above 35 years old. If not, you can consider buying together, under foreign spouse scheme, once both of you get married.

But do note that you need to sell your condo within 6 months if you include your name.
