How to renew tenancy agreement without going through an agent?
Currently renting out a private property to a tenant, as lease is near, we want to renew the rental agreement (with a slight increase in price) without going through an agent (makes no sense since it's the same tenant). How can we go about doing this? Thanks

If you choose to save on agent commission and not getting yourself protected against unforeseen circumstances or situation, you could prepare your own set of TA and to get it stamp in that case.

If your agent has not found this tenant in the first place, there is no renewal to talk about in the first place. If the tenant decides not to renew, you will still need to pay an agent to find you a new tenant, and with vacant period involved between the 2 tenants potentially, your loss maybe even more, especially in the current market.

If you are not keen to pay further renewal, I'd suggest to let the agent know up front that should current tenant decide to renew a further term then you will not be paying but honour your payment for this term. Read More

Hi, appreciate your sharing. Able to check with current agent whether able to negotiate for the agent fees required. To save the time and hassle of the admin work required.

Good afternoon.

Do check your initial commission agreement if you are supposed to pay renewal fees to your agent. If it is stated that you are supposed to pay, please note that it will be a breach of contract should you choose to go ahead with renewal without paying the agent.

Thank you.
