How does it work if I am planning to buy with a partner (not married) ? Is there any specificities to be aware of ? For example, can the IPA be under my partner name, and the buying contract be under my name ? Or does both need to be under the same name ?

Dear Sir/Mdm,

The borrower of the loan must also be the owner of the property. I would suggest both of you to hold the property under tenancy in common, with the shares in accordance to your individual contributions.

Hi,

1) The principle is "the only owner can borrow".
2) If IPA is under your partner's name, your partner must be the buyer.
3) You may insert your name without being the borrow, it meant that you are not allowed to utilize your CPF in this purchase, and of course not able to use CPF to service the mortgage.
4) In this way, your partner will be the sole responsible to service the mortgage.
5) Legally there is nothing wrong, it is just unfair to your partner when your partner has to bear the responsibility, but you just sit back and enjoy the fruit. Because legally you own part share but not the responsibility.

The Owner need not be a Borrower, but the Borrower must be the Owner.
