Hello Terence,

Yes, you may buy private property and still keep your HDB to rent out, IF you have satisfied HDB's Minimum Occupational Period for your flat. Below are the current guidelines.

For flats bought direct from HDB or resale flats using CPF grant :
- it is 5 years.

For resale flats bought in the open market without CPF grant :
- 2 1/2 years from effective date of resale if owner takes a HDB loan,
- 1 year from effective date of resale if owner takes a bank loan or paid fully in cash.
