Hi would like to ask :
If A & B (husband and wife) have a HDB unit (50-50 joint owners) at Pasir Ris area.
Their children (2 Boys, C & D) married, C bought a HDB unit (BTO) with wife and D bought a new EC with wife.
Q1. In the event, A passed away, B will have 100% ownership, B need to change name solely for herself (in HDB record) ? or stay put as A&B name?

Q2. In the event, B also passed away later, their HDB unit need to change name to either Son C or D? Based on the assumption that C & D want to keep the parents' unit not sell to public or HDB.

Q3. If C and wife sold the BTO unit, after MOP period, want to stay at his parents' unit (Pasir Ris), can he and wife allow to change name ?(assuming B is still alive and want C to take over the house, and D also agreed to it. So when B passed away, the HDB unit has C and wife name (in HDB's record)

Pls advise, if you know the HDB rules and legal info. If you are not sure, pls do not reply. Pls do not give marketing info to sell property. Just want to know more about HDB rulings.

Q1: Under joint tenancy, once party A is deceased, party B will be the sole owner and will be required to update HDB accordingly.

Q2: In the event that party B is deceased, in the absence of a will, the property will be passed down based on the intestate law of Singapore. Party B may wish to do up a will to look into the distribution of assets accordingly. Whether the HDB can be retained or not will depend on several factors, but the main factor will be whether C & D/ C or D is able to own this HDB based on the eligibility criteria. If each of them already own a HDB under their name with their spouse, then they will need to decide which HDB to keep.

Q3: Yes, possible

In fact the best person you should enquire with is HDB on the above matters as I believe you may have more questions here on the combination. And based on the nature of questions above, these are generally what we classify as estate matters, thus it could also be helpful to speak to your lawyer on how you can make arrangements for your estate matters.

Do take note that HDB regulations are updated regularly thus whatever we have mentioned here may not be applicable in the future.
