I am not exactly clear about your described situation, however, some owners do require additional time to ponder over your offer and make a decision, especially if it concerns multiple owners (siblings or relatives).
Otherwise, do check back and get updates from the salesperson instead as he or she should be aware of what has been communicated. If you feel that there could be foul play involve, I suggest you to retract the offer or call up the bank to cancel the cheque issued.
