You can only ink on the OTP in Jan 2017, hence it might be too early. Perhaps Nov/Dec 2016 is better if your requirements are flexible.

Yes, you may start to search for property first eventhough it is now. Only that you may only able to purchase any unit that you interested start on Jan 2017 which both of you fulfilled 3 years SPR.
It is always good to start searching early so that could have a better idea on which type, location and budget that could meet your requirement. Between, you may start to check on your loan eligibility to know your affordability.

It will be too early to start soon as you can only ink on the OTP on/ after you fulfill 3 years.

The optimal start date will be 2 to 4 weeks before Jan 17. Reason being that I had a few clients who started too early but suffered heartache when the dream units they desired got sold before they are eligible to purchase.

May I know where's your preferred location, requirements and exact date of your 3 years fulfillment?

The OTP can only be inked on the date where both your spouse and yourself have fulfilled the 3 years SPR holding period. By getting your IPA done up and understanding your requirement, it would allow us to start hunting for a suitable unit in late Dec to early Jan 2017.

Why start viewing early date than your eligible date . Recommend to conduct house viewing after your PR status of 3 years as it will not cause unhappiness and time waste viewing housing you cannot buy. See only, cannot exercise- for third parties seller will be a waste of their time too.
