Hi there, we like to purchase a resale flat. But I have a private condo under my name. Can my fiance apply where he is the sole applicant of the flat and I am just an occupant? Or do I have to dispose my property?

Hi, it is not possible in your case and you would need to dispose off your private property in order to have a joint ownership HDB flat purchase with your fiancé.

Hi,

1) Your fiance can purchase under the Single Citizen scheme if he meets the criteria listed by HDB.
2) Only essential occupier has to observe MOP and not allowed to purchase private property during the MOP.
3) After marriage, you will be listed as occupier only, thus shouldn't need to be under the laid restriction. You should be allowed to keep your private property. However, HDB has the final say on this.
4) I can only advise according to the rules and regulations listed by HDB. I had encountered a situation where the husband, a single owner of an HDB flat married to his wife who owned multiple properties and allowed to keep. But this single owner had already fulfilled his MOP. So cannot be absolutely sure that the same is applicable to your situation.
5) Suggest you put up an inquiry to get a black and white before you make your next move. The link is as follow:

Hi Miss,

If your fiance is aged above 35, he can purchase under Single Scheme under his own name without having to include you as the essential occupier. You will be able to keep hold of your condo after the purchase.

If he's below age 35, you will need to be included as the essential occupier to form a valid family nucleus under Fiance/Fiancee Scheme. This will mean that you will need to dispose off your interests in your condo latest within 6 months upon the HDB flat purchase.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

Should you need require further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
