Hi there,

We are intending to apply for the current May 2022 BTO launch or SBF.
We would like to seek clarification, if we managed to select a unit in this launch, the TOP is estimated to be year 2028. Based on this background, subject to HDB's approval, can we buy a resale HDB while waiting for the BTO to be ready between Year 2023 - 2028 until we can get out keys? (Waiting time is more than 5 years)

We seem to have come across articles that mentioned this possibility, which is why we are seeking clarification before we proceed for the application.

From my understanding, I don't think this is possible, but do verify with HDB to clarify the above. As we are only dealing with the resale market for HDB properties, there are certain rules that we maybe unaware for the primary BTO market.

Hi,

Yes, you can purchase a resale flat from the open market even after you had selected a unit. However, you will have to give up the BTO application, and forfeit whatever monies that's been paid. Do take note that you will not be able to get CPF Housing Grant for the resale flat purchase.
