It is definitely advisable to get your Approval-in-Principle (AIP) from the bank prior to your search.
It will give you an idea of the maximum loan quantum that you are eligible for. The last thing you would want to happen is to get your option fee forfeited if you can't get the bank loan. AIP can be done very quickly within 1-2 days.
It will also be advisable for you to sit down with your representing agent to do a financial calculation on the cash/ CPF layout so that you do not overstretch yourself.
