HI there, I have been employed by a overseas company for quite number of years as an expat at china and will be moving to Hangzhou on 1st Sep 2017. I just brought my HDB at Compass vale Mast and would like to know how i can rent it out while I'm station at China. kindly advice

Good afternoon Mr. Yap,

If you are SC and have never rented out your HDB unit before, we can write in to HDB to appeal for the rented based on overseas assignment, if you have not fulfilled MOP. If your MOP had being fulfilled, we can submit the application online and wait for approval.

Hi Mr Yap,

You will need to get the HDB approval before you are able to rent out your HDB due to the requirement of an Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) of 5 years! Once approval has been given, HDB will not count the period of subletting into your MOP and therefore your MOP will be extended.

Hi friend,

2 scenario here.

1. If you have met your MOP, just go online to apply to HDB for approval to lease your unit. Once you get the APPROVAL reply, you can start to look for tenants.
2. If you HAVE NOT met your MOP, you need to write in to HDB, explain your situation, OVERSEA POSTING and seek for approval to lease out your unit while you are away. Do note that the period that you are not physically living in the unit will not be counted in the MOP.
