Hi, recently i engage with an agent about a room (landed property)...she never show her face and only requested for the house other tenant to open the door and view the room ourself..is it correct?after that we feel suspicious as scams going around..we want to enquire more questions bout the room but the reply were rather harsh...then she demanded for deposits after all agreements signed...but till then, we still not meet face to face..when we ask more, she mentioned, 'dun trust, dun rent'... i mean, as a property agent, isn't it how bad the attitude of the customers are, they need to be patient?correct me if i am wrong...but no doubt, the owner is a nice lady...

I am always of the position that if you smell a rat, you should just walk away from it totally. Not sure why have you progress further from that. Read More

Hi, usually the agent will meet you to sign the agreement, perhaps you can do your due diligence, and check the ownership of the house as well as the identity of the agent on CEA public register. Usually, agents are friendly and shouldn't be so harsh towards you.

Remember: It's always better to be safe than sorry. Trust your instincts and prioritize your safety when looking for a rental property.
You're absolutely right to be cautious! This situation raises several red flags commonly associated with scams. Here's a breakdown:

Red Flags:

No Agent Meeting: A legitimate agent would typically meet you to discuss the property and answer questions.
Unprofessional Communication: Harsh replies and a "don't trust, don't rent" attitude are unprofessional and raise suspicion.
Deposit Before Meeting: Deposits should ideally be collected after meeting the agent and owner, and reviewing a signed tenancy agreement.
