Hi! My partner and I are getting married and we (like most couples) are struggling to navigate around HDB and its schemes and whatnots.
To preface, my partner and I are currently engaged and are looking to get married in the next few months. We have decided we'd like to take a step forward by applying for HFE, and thereafter, balloting for a SBF. However, we are facing difficulties with applying for a HFE as my partner is an essential occupier of the house he is sharing with his (divorced) parent and older sibling.
Ultimately, the sensible thing to do would be to write in to HDB to request for his name to be pulled out so that we can both co-own a property and transfer the ownership of the essential occupier to his sibling, but HDB responded that he can only attempt to appeal again upon our marriage.
I'd like to ask if anyone can provide any enlightenment as to why he is facing difficulties pulling his name out as an essential occupier, and why we are only able to appeal after getting married?
Thanks a million!
