Asked by
Hi, My partner and I are both SC.

We are getting married next year, looking to get a bto (3-Gen).
Just a few questions that I would like to clarify:
1. Since it's 3-Gen, and my parents have to sell off their current house, what is the timeline to do so?
2. Can I put both my parents and my name as the main applicants?
3. I would like to leave out my partner's name so that we can have more options for 2nd housing. Is that possible?

Thnaks in advance!

Hi,

Assuming the down payment is not an issue, they only need to sell within 6 months of key collection to the new 3-gen flat. Yes you can put your parents names and yours as main applicant owners, while your wife is the essential occupier. She still has to fulfil the 5 years MOP period before getting 2nd property. And do note also 3-gen flats can only be sold to 3-gen families (same type of family nucleus)when and if you decide to sell so it may be tougher to sell next time.

Hope the above clarifies. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so as to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Hi
To answer your question:
1) Your parents have to sell off their flat within 6 months of you getting keys to your BTO
2) Yes you may do so but do note that if your parent have ever bought a flat direct from HDB or a subsidized resale flat before, resale levy will apply.
3) Yes you may do so but do note that HDB will require your wife to be named at least an occupier. In addition, she will also not be eligible to purchase a private property within 5 years MOP as she will be deemed as an essential occupier. She is free to purchase a private property on her own once the 5 years MOP is up.

I am well versed in HDB. Do contact me at 93375051  for a free and non obligatory discussion on this.
