Hi, my fiancé and I would like to purchase a resale flat with HDB grants. Does anybody know if we have 3 or 6 months after purchasing the flat to show our marriage cert or is it compulsory to show our marriage cert during first or second appointment before the resale flat sale completes? We are planning to make a small wedding reception at our new place therefore it would be the ideal situation if we can show our marriage cert after the resale flat transaction and renovation is completed.

Hi,

The ROM cert must be produced before the grants are disbursed, ie. Before completion 2nd appt. Hence, I'm afraid hdb will not allow you to drag out that long and any approval requires appeal. Perhaps readying the wedding related supporting documents will help with the appeal.

    by wedding related supporting documents, does it mean that if i produce the banquet or ROM confirmed date these documents will be sufficient for the appeal?
    However, this does not applies for the approval of housing grants correct? Only when there is ROM cert will be housing grants be granted?
Hi,

Please note that in order to receive grants, you have to produce the marriage certificate before or on the completion date, in 2018, meaning the 8 weeks upon receiving resales approval from HDB.

In another word, even though you have applied for grants during submission of resale application. You will not receive the grant if you are unable to produce the marriage during the HDB appointment.

I would suggest you to register and collect the marriage certificate earlier. Just in case you are not aware, booking of marriage has to be at least 3 weeks in advance dependent on availability. You may hold the banquet and celebration later so as not to jeopardize your housing plan.
