Yes, you may purchase a private non-landed residential property under both you and your brother's name. Your brother owns any HDB? If he does, then he maybe required to sell the HDB in order to purchase the condo with you. ABSD will also be applicable for the purchase since he is a SPR.

Yes you can purchase private property (non-landed) under both names, but not HDB as it requires a family nucleus to apply. There will be a 5% ABSD payable given that your brother is a SPR buyer.

Hi,

1) To purchase an HDB flat, your brother's spouse also must be included as an applicant but can be an occupier instead of an owner. So that your interest is protected if this is held under the Joint Tenancy.
2) There is no restriction on age to purchase private property. You just need to have enough funds for the purchase.
3) The next thing you have to be aware of is the Additional Buyer Stamp Duty (ABSD) when joint name to purchase with your brother.
4) Since your brother is an SPR, the purchase will be subject to at least 5% ABSD assuming both of you are buying the 1st property.

May I know if your Brother's wife is also SPR? And how many years SPR have they been? For yourself, are you above age 35? These will determine their eligibility to purchase a HDB flat.
