In order to own a HDB in Singapore, applicants must not own any other property locally or overseas, and have not disposed of any within the last 15 or 30 months, depending on whether you intend to purchase a BTO or a resale HDB from the open market.

You will need to dispose your condo in Malaysia, wait out for a period of 15 months before you are eligible to purchase a resale HDB, or wait out for a period of 30 months before you are eligible to apply for BTO/SBF.

You will still be eligible to purchase a private residential property in Singapore and your condo in Malaysia will not be included in the property count for ABSD.

Hi,

1) HDB flat is meant to provide a basic roof for citizens and permanent residents whose income is not able to afford private property.
2) Therefore their policies are designed in such a way as to protect these people to have an affordable house for their needs.
3) Those who could afford to invest in property are deemed to be well-off and should be restricted or even not allowed to own an HDB flat.
4) The policy stated clearly that anyone who intends to buy an HDB flat should not own any private property locally and overseas for the owners and occupiers.
5) With the latest implementation of new cooling measures in Sep 2022. You will have to wait for 15 months after selling your private property before eligible to buy an HDB flat.
6) Therefore if you buy a condo now, you have to sell it and wait for 15 months before being allowed to buy HDB flat.
