I'm buying a resale hdb with my gf

She is the buyer and I am the essential occupier.

The resale flat location is within 4km of my parent's flat.

Are we eligible for hdb proximity grant in this case, given that I'm just the essential occupant?

Hi RQ,

1) Once you are married, you automatically became the essential occupier.
2) Even you may be purchasing under fiance/fiancee scheme, you have to solemize within 3 months upon key collection. Thus you will be eligible for PNG.
3) Having said that, since your plan is to get the $20k grant. You have to be aware that if you intend to apply for BTO/new EC in the future, you will be subject to a resale levy which will be much more than this $20k grant.
4) If you need this grant in order to purchase your ideal flat, then it is understandable that you should go ahead.
5) Or if you had planned to purchase a private in the future, then you don't have to worry about this.
